Why are we called the AFSCA?

We chose the name American Future Seashell Collectors of America because it best reflects who we are and what we aspire to.

American because our membership identifies itself as American.

Future because our members are not currently active seashell collectors. 

Seashell Collectors because our members would like to collect seashells at some point in their lives.  That point is not today, however.  It likely is also not tomorrow.

We are of America because this represents our current locality.  It is conceivable that our association could spawn other subgroups of American expatriates who might wish to collect seashells while living in a country other than America.  We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Some might question why we have America twice in our name.  Not only does this distinguish country of origin and country of current residence, this also reinforces our belief that you can never have too much America!
